Homemade Pan Pizza with Perfectly Crispy Crust
What is Pan Pizza? Pan pizza is a pizza that is baked in a heavy metal pan, like a cast iron pan, that has high sides. The pan is typically greased heavily and because it has high sides the pizza crust is thicker and chewy in the middle while being very crispy and almost fried on the bottom. But after making my buffalo chicken empanadasI wanted to update with the option for both. For the cheese, I like using a mixture of mozzarella and hom. And the parmesan, especially the top layer, gives a slight crunch and crisp texture difference. Keep in mind, however, the crust will be baked ahead of toppings going on. Brush the crust with olive oil and bake for minutes or until golden brown on top. Reduce the heat to F after removing the pizza crust. Toppings Mix the sauces together and coat the crust in sauce. Add a layer of mozzarella, half the parmesan, the pepperoni, and any crisph toppings you'd like. Sprinkle the remaining parmesan over the top.
